I heart NY

Hello from the big apple!! It's been way too long since my last post but have been trying to sort life out and get settled in the new city. So far the experience has been really eye-opening. I'm like a kid in a candy store. There are just so much to take in at once that it overwhelms my system. LOL. People here are in general a lot more fashionable/ put together than back home. It's so nice to see all these things in real life that I used to see in movies.

I've also just started school so it's been a jolt to my rusty brain. I can feel my brain struggling a bit because it's been over a year since I last used it.

Came back from down under. The weather was so damn nice there. It was mostly sunny and cool which was such a difference to the stuffy, humid weather we have here. I got to visit my old home, actually went inside and walked around. It seemed bigger when I was a kid. It was nice to also be able to eat my favourite things again. Nothing expensive or fancy. I even missed the bottled water there. Lol.

Harvard uniform

Wow... really? Taking a step further than just uni logo jerseys/ sweaters, Harvard came out with their own fashion line, Harvard Yard! Well it's a collaboration with a clothing company but still.. it's the last organisaton in my mind to be hip and get so um... commercial? is that the right word?

Up in 3D

Saw this last night in three deee. second film in a row i watched with cool wayfarers. lol. the movie was funny and touching on the verge of sad. there were parts where i shed a few tears while my mates were balling their eyes out. It was a good movie, just didn't expect it to make us cry. When we got out we were all sorta down for some reason. i said to them, "shit, should have just gone and watched the hangover."

Freakin' stressed

Have been really busy preparing myself for different things of late. Right now I'm trying to pack. Off to Australia in a week. It's gonna be winter there so I'm kinda excited to get away from the summer humidity and heat. However, at the same time I'm preparing for a big move overseas. Which is gonna happen a couple days after I get back from downunder. Man, I wouldn't wanna imagine all the hours I'll be stuck on a plane. The timezone, weather and culture changes are gonna be shocks to my system I think and I have no idea how well I can adjust or cope in a matter of days.
Don't worry I'm gonna whine more in the coming days. Stay tuned for more whiney goodness.

Ice Age 3

Friend of mine and I went to watch the above film in 3D yesterday. Yes we both felt childish for going to see the movie but then once we were in the theatre there were MUCH older people watching it so we felt better. We were given Ray Ban wayfarer-like 3D glasses to watch the movie. We sat in the second row, the only tickets I could get. The first row was not available to customers I think because being too close to the screen to watch 3D might induce dizziness / nausea. Well that's my theory. I wanted to keep the damn 3D glasses afterwards but then the staff required everyone to drop them in the bucket when we left, shucks. It was a fun movie, though I did like the first 2 more. It would have been better if we didn't sit in the second row and if there weren't 3 year olds crying and shouting next to and behind me.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Okay, I actually went to see this the second day it came out. I just couldn't be bothered putting my two cents in until now. I went with my dad (that's how desparate I was). He fell asleep 3 times during the movie and by the 3rd time I gave up and just left him to watch the movie in dreamland. I guess for those that never read the book, the plot's a bit hard to follow. I mean I read all 7 books and even I forgot some things and got a bit lost. There are places in the movie I thought was a bit of a drag. Ron and Harry look a bit off to me, like awkward and not as cute as before...but Hermoine (sp?) gets hotter as she gets older.
I'm waiting for the last one to come out. Perhaps another 2 years ?

I hadn't have potato chips in the longest time, like months. Well, I think it must be that time of the month soon, cos I ate chips till I literally felt sick yesterday. I ate Macdonald's for lunch, then after that I consumed a bag of potato chips. After that I still had the crazy urge to have more so, like a rational human being, I downed an entire can of Pringles ( yes, it's really true, once you pop you can't stop). After that I still felt fine for the first 30, 40 mins. I guess my stomach and brain must be on some delayed reaction connection with each other. Urgh. I am still feeling so bloated from the salt I still can't do up my jeans.

Levy

...for plastic bags. Yup, since a few days ago the government at my end implemented plastic bag surcharge in order to save the environment. It's a really nice initiative to finally do something together as a society to be 'greener'.
At 50 cents a bag, I said to myself, "what a rip! you won't catch me buying one!" however, today inevitably I had to buy 2. sigh... stupid I didn't bring shopping bags out. Thing is, I had no intention of going grocery shopping, so why would I think to take a green bag with me? (side note: Can't believe I went impulse grocery shopping)
I think it's gonna take me a while to get used to this. Oh, and now I have to buy plastic bags to line my bins too. So in a way, I AM paying for plastic bags still...hmmm.

Pissed off

Can't find my Chanel earrings. They do not have legs. I do not want to resort to pointing fingers but it's hard not to. I treasured them so much and I always made sure to store them in my jewelry box after wearing them. Aarrggh.....

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Yay, the DVD finally came out and I managed to get a copy this weekend. I saw this at the cinema a while back when it came out and really liked it. That said, as a loyal fan of the Shopaholic book series, I must say it's not as good as the book. They changed some stuff around and there's no way the movie's gonna be as detailed as the book. Anywho, still a fun chick flick to watch nonetheless, Isla Fisher is really cute as Rebecca Bloomwood.

Fluttery lashes

Fake lashes have become such a big thing. I've noticed in Japan it's pretty much a staple for most girls. I must admit I have a good few pairs at home but I always end up too lazy to put them on. However, on days when I do, the results are pretty apparent and they really open up the eyes, giving results mascaras cannot replicate.
Shu uemura is pretty much known for their great fake lashes. After pairing with Victor & Rolf before, they released new lashes in June to create even more glamourous looks.

Aquatic Nymph

I bought this palette in Japan. The colors are gorgeous and the palette is from the latest Jill Stuart Beauty Summer 2009 collection called Aquatic Nymph. Along with this I also purchased a shimmery, glittery red limited edition nail polish from same collection. The eyeshadows look so nice on especially the blue. I love how they stay on my lids after many hours of being out in the humid weather and still somehow remain somewhat crease-free.

A Good Day

Wow today was a good day. Despite only sleeping for 3 hours, I received some good news personally and so did my best friend. Uncanny. I'm happy for her and for myself, we've been both down in the dumps for some time and it's nice to be surprised once in a (very long)while.

Home again

Can't believe one week flew by so quickly. It felt more like I was there for only 3 or 4 days. I am missing my best friend terribly and also I feel like I have not acheived as much as I would have liked. There was not much sightseeing this time round, as that was not my main purpose for the trip. Anyway, here I am back home again. The weather is so hot it's gross and it's been raining heaps. urgh.

Tough stuff

This clip got me and my buddies laughing inside Tokyo Hands, a store that sells all sorts of stuff like homeware, materials for DIY projects etc. We were browsing in the umbrella section when we came across this and we LOLed so bad the whole floor heard us. Still funny now.
p.s. no, none of us walked away with that brand of umbrella even though we bought 5 umbrellas between the 3 of us.

Transformed

So I was among the first ones to watch the movie in Japan at the advance screening session (we even received certificates to prove that we were among the first ones in the world to watch it or something) and I was so impressed. I LOVED IT. I watched the first one like 7 times in the cinema and I think I'm gonna watch it at least another time. At least. The movie runs 160 mins long but not once did I feel like it was long. In fact, I didn't get enough. The coolest thing was of course the transformations of the robots. Also, me and my buddy were the only ones in the cinema laughing out loud in the cinema.... some of the new characters were pretty cool too. Notable mention: the twins and the pet Michela keeps towards the middle of the movie. However, I did not like the last couple lines of the movie... thought they were cheesy.

Trend alert

According to my observation through people watching and confirmed by my Jap friend, girls here have been wearing tiny hats on their heads as accessories. I wanted to take a photo but it was too obvious so I hope I have a chance in the coming days. For now you just have to imagine it.

Konichiwa (is that right?)

Greetings from Japan. Made it through customs without being quarantined. I was so worried the night before as I had a mild fever. NEways I'm better but still bit tired. I'm glad to be back. I missed my buddy and her family so much. And who could forget the shopping. I am waiting for my buddy to get ready so we can hit the shops in a while.

It's rainy season here and every night it pours. But duing the day it's cool so its damn nice. Loves it.

Is it Friday Yet?

Path that doesn't take me home

urgh

No, I don't have that. But that was the first thing that sprang to mind when I first felt sick. Gosh it's gotten everyone all paranoid and panicky. Basically I just feel tired, have back ache and stomach ache. No fever or anything else. As a result I have to postpone my trip overseas for another few days till I get better. For the past couple days I have done pretty much nothing but sleep and watch reruns of Saturday Night Live while I eat. As a person who usually have great difficulties sleeping, I have been having no problems doing that whatsoever throughout the past 2 days. All day and night. Wow...I guess I really must not be myself just yet. I'm getting there. I'm slowly sleeping less and less. Pretty soon I'll be back to my usual involuntary 5 hours. lol.
